Tibetan Mahakala Mask with Stone Inlay | Small

This Mahakala mask is a beautifully handcrafted wooden piece featuring intricate details and a unique design.  This particular mask is studded with Turquoise, Corals and Lapis that enhances it’s beauty and value.  Brass & White metal is also used to enhance the character.

Mahakala is relied upon in all schools of Tibetan Buddhism. However, he is depicted in a number of variations, each with distinctly different qualities and aspects. He is also regarded as the emanation of different beings in different cases.  Mahakala is a Dharmapala, a protector of religious law. He is always depicted as an extremely fierce and terrifying deity. His purpose is to help in overcoming negative obstacles on the path to enlightenment.
